Audio Story of the Day - Artie Lange promos 'Too Fat To Fish'
Artie Lange sat for a interview with NPR's Terry Gross last week ostensibly to promote his new book Too Fat to Fish. You can listen here:

The interview runs about 38 minutes which is long even by the standards of Fresh Air. In a subsequent posting I'll link to Artie's previous appearance with Terry Gross which in some ways is even more interesting then this interview.

Audio Story of the Day - Google Flu Tracker discussed on TOTN
On last Thursday's edition of Talk of the Nation Neal Conan spoke with Miguel Helft for the The New York Times about Google's Flu Tracker. The segment runs about 16 minutes. You can listen to it here:

Among the more interesting takeaways for me is the idea that advertisers could review the Flu Tracker Map and then turn around and purchase Google Key Word advertisements promoting a particular flu remedy in states where the incidence of flu cases has risen.

Major Assignment in AVIS 180 this winter
Tonight I put some thought into the theme of the major assignment students will complete in AVIS 180 this winter. My sense is that I will give students a choice between two themes. I am still thinking through the second theme. The first is a lock: A fictional electric car manufacturer.

Turns out there are a fair number of companies trying to make a go of it in the electric car space including: ZENN, Reva, and Tesla.
