Dhows of Dubai
I took these pictures from the top of London-style double-decker bus tour of Dubai. A Dhow is traditional Arab sailing vessel. According to our tour guide the Dhows that are based out of Dubai sail as far East as Africa and as far west Indonesia.

Cranes of Dubai
I spent 48 hours in Dubai in late July 2006. The most indelible memory I will have of my time in Dubai is the number of construction cranes I saw as I drove up the coast of the Persian Gulf. At one point while the tour bus I was on stopped at traffic light I counted 130 cranes on the left side of the bus.
